From the side of the Gironde, this holed and tagged castle has a long story to tell us: August 44, an English plane, a friend’s mistake. Since then it has been the kingdom of a giraffe drawn from the ground floor to the gutted roof. Its potential was immediately apparent to us. We planted dense vines there, pruned to be concentrated; the conditions are ideal: sunshine all day and the freshness of the estuary at night. It goes to show that a castle grows better without a roof. Cultivating your uniqueness is an art for this holed and tagged castle, with such a unique Franco-English destiny.
